William Oscar Maddox, Sr. 6 married Anna Maria Elizabeth Cheuvront at Good Hope, Harrison County, Virginia (WV) on 1 April 1832 at the home of the brides parents. William posted a marriage bond on 31 March 1832, copy of this bond is contained in the Maddox Family History. This record was found in Book D, page 113 of the Marriage Records of Harrison County, Virginia (WV). The parents of William’s wife were Aaron and Sarah (Richards) Cheuvront, the Cheuvront Family were from France.

Aaron Cheuvront obtained a land grant in the amount of 2,000 acres of land located in Jackson County, Virginia (WV) from Governor Allison of Virginia. In 1838 the Cheuvront Family including William Oscar Maddox, Sr. 6 and his wife sold out in Harrison County, Virginia (WV) and moved to the new land in Jackson County, Virginia (WV). They loaded everything on wagons and herded the livestock across country from Harrison County, Virginia (WV) to Parkersburg, Wood County, Virginia (WV). Once at Parkersburg they built rafts, loaded everything and floated down the Ohio River to the present day location of Ravenswood, Jackson County, West Virginia. When they arrived at Ravenswood they unloaded everything from the rafts and took out across country following Sand Creek to reach the new property which was located in what is now the Sandyville,Lockhart and Odaville areas of modern day Jackson County, West Virginia.

Once they reached their new lands they had to build homes and get crops started. William built his log house on a bank up off of Sand Creek where later the Morgan Farm was located. Aaron Cheuvront built his log house in the present day location of Baldersons Store at Lockhart, a short distance away from where William built his log house.

In the 1840 census of Jackson County, Virginia (WV) William Oscar Maddox, Sr. 6 was listed at the age of 33, born in Virginia, Anna Maria Elizabeth (wife) age 36, born Virginia, Amos Aaron Maddox, age 5, born in Virginia, George C. Maddox, age 7, born in Virginia, Rebecca Maddox, age 4, born in Virginia and Sarah Maddox, age 6, born in Virginia. Mary Louisa Maddox, the last child of William was not listed since she was born in 1841.

In the 1850 census of Jackson County, Virginia (WV) Anna Maria Elizabeth (Cheuvront) Maddox was listed at the age of 45, born Virginia, George C. Maddox, age 17, born in Virginia, Sarah Maddox, age 16, born in Virginia, Rebecca Maddox, age 14, born in Virginia, Amos Aaron Maddox, age 11, born in Virginia and Mary L. Maddox, age 9, born in Virginia. This census also listed Aaron Cheuvront, age 68, born in Virginia and his 3rd. wife, Matilda Maddox, age 40, born in Virginia.

Anna Maria Elizabeth (Cheuvront) Maddox also died of thypoid fever on 7 November 1866 and she was also buried in the Maddox Cemetery, Jackson County. On her grave marker the date of her death was engraved as 7 November 1886, the date of her death has been documented as 7 November 1866.

Aaron Cheuvront, his second wife, Sarah (Richards) Cheuvront and his third wife, Malitda (Bolin) Cheuvront are also buried in the Maddox Cemetery, Jackson County, West Virginia. Mitilda (Bolin) Cheuvront was born 2 June 1813 in Virginia, died 6 March 1887 in Jackson County, West Virginia and is buried in the Maddox Cemetery, Jackson County, West Virginia.
