It has been reported that William Oscar and Anna Maria Elizabeth had 3 to 4 children who died very young in Harrison County, Virginia (WV); these could be William Oscar Jr., Elizabeth and Martha. No records were found on these three children. His stated birth date precedes his parents' recorded 1833 marriage (see source_conflicts).

William Oscar Maddox , Sr. 6 was born in Harrison County, Virginia (WV). There is no record of his birth on file in the county. William did have a child, William Oscar Maddox, Jr. 7 born on 6 December 1826 in Harrison County, Virginia (WV). Nothing is known about this child.
