Three centuries of ground: from Scethrog in the Usk valley to the Maryland tidewater, over the mountains to the western waters of Virginia, and across the Ohio. The chart below is a stylized map in the manner of an old atlas plate — it is not geographically exact.

The Western Waters

Harrison, Jackson & Wood County, West Virginia · abt 1800 – present

The family’s deepest ground: from Harrison County (then still Virginia) after 1800, into Jackson County — Drift Run, Grass Lick, Sandyville — and later Wood County and Parkersburg. The Maddox and Drift Run cemeteries in Jackson County hold more of this family than any other place on earth.
