Stayed in Harrison County, Virginia (WV) the rest of his life. All of his children were born in Harrison County, Virginia (WV). His sons John, Thomas, William D. and James Gaston Maddox left Harrison County at the close of the American Civil War and settled in the Ravenswood, Ripley and Grass Lick areas of Jackson County, West Virginia; descendants of this line remain in Jackson, Harrison and Wood Counties.
