Moved to Wood County, Virginia (WV) in 1812 and was a landowner there; his parents Matthew Sr. and Rachel appear to have lived with him. Along with his two wives he had 22 children; Thomas, both wives and six of his children are buried in the Maddox Cemetery, Wood County, West Virginia. The source lists the 22 children without assigning them to a specific wife, except Martin G. Maddox, identified as a son of Victoria (Petty) Maddox.
