First-born child, and the only child born in St. Marys County, Maryland. She and Peter moved to Wood County, Virginia (WV) and remained there until their deaths. Several Romine descendants still lived in Wood County, West Virginia as of the document's writing.

Matthew Maddox, Sr 4. was born in St. Marys County, Maryland to John 3 and Mary (Dyson) Maddox. In Frederick County, Maryland in 1773, he married Rachel Bonnifield. The only child to be born in St. Marys County, Maryland was their first child, Mary Molly Maddox 5 (1776/1777).

Mary Molly Maddox 5 (1776/1777-1 July 1858) was the first-born child of Matthew, Sr 4. and Rachel (Bonnifield) Maddox. Mary married Peter Romine in 1796 in Harrison County, Virginia (WV). Mary and Peter moved to Wood County, Virginia (WV) and remained in the county until their deaths. Their children were Joseph Romine, born, 1802, Roswel Romine, John Romine born, 1809, Samuel Romine (1806-1888), James Romine (1813-1892), Mary Ann Romine (1821-1894), Matthias Romine, Matika Romine, born, 1810 and Thomas Romine (1815-1902). Mary (Maddox) Romine and Peter Romine are buried in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Lubeck District, Wood County, West Virginia. Several of their descendants (Romine) still live in Wood County, West Virginia.

Matthew and Rachel (Bonnifield) Maddox had their first child, Mary Molly Maddox (born 1776) in St. Mary’s County, Maryland and this was the only child born in that county and state.

Matthew, Rachel and Mary Molly Maddox moved from St. Mary’s County, Maryland in the year 1779 and went west over the Blue Ridge Mountains into a vast wilderness and into Indian Territory into what was then Dunmore County, Virginia. This county was named for Lord Dunmore. The county name was changed shortly after they arrived to Shenandoah County, Virginia.

Another deed of interest was found in Deed Book 3, page 76, dated 20 November 1797 in the Harrison County, Virginia (WV) Deed Books. In this deed, Peter Romine bought 80 acres of land for $200.00 on the right hand fork of Hastings Run, just west of Romine Mills. Hastings Run enters Rooting Creek. This land was very close to the land purchased by Matthew and Rozzel Maddox in the 1807 deed. Peter Romine married Mary Molly Maddox in 1796 in Harrison County, Virginia (WV).
