  • Thomas Maddox 5 (20 June 1788-12 August 1872), a son of Matthew, Sr 4. and Rachel (Bonnifield) Maddox was born in Harrison County, Virginia (WV). Thomas moved to Wood County, Virginia (WV) in 1812. Thomas 5, along with his two wives, had 22 children. Thomas, both wives and six of his children are buried in the Maddox Cemetery, Wood County, West Virginia. His children were, Amy Maddox 6 (1814-1880),married Robert Luther Fleming, Lucy Maddox 6 born, 1815, married William Davis, Martin G. Maddox 6 (1817-1847), married Julia Ann Romine, William P. Maddox 6 (1818-1904), married first Nancy Price, then Olive R. Hopkins, Mary Maddox 6, born, 1821, John Maddox 6 (1823-1863), Drusilla Maddox 6 (1824-1847), married Thomas B. Leach, Victoria Maddox 6 (1827-1847), married Caleb T.   • Martin G. Maddox 6, (1817-1847), son of Thomas 5 and Victoria (Petty) Maddox was married to Julia Ann Romine, child of Roswel and Elizabeth Fulton Romine on 3 September 1843 in Wood County, Virginia (WV). They had three children, one being America Maddox 7 (27 May 1843-1885) who married John L. Stout (1847-1926). The Bethel Baptist Church located in the Lubeck District of Wood County, West Virginia, was dedicated to America (Maddox) Stout. This church was organized 9 May 1847. There are two corner stones on this church, one states, “Bethel Baptist Church, AD 1967, Organized 1847” and “In Memory of America Maddox Stout, Mother of O. J. Stout”. America (Maddox) Stout, her husband and children are buried in the cemetery at the Bethel Baptist Church. Several of their descendants (Stout) still live in Wood County, West Virginia. The other children of Martin G. and Julia Ann (Romine) Maddox were Thomas Maddox 7 (11 April 1845-1March 1868) and Mary Ann Maddox 7 (1 June 1848-28 December 1848), both are buried in the Maddox Cemetery, Wood County, West Virginia.
