  • William Maddox 5 (10 April 1785-28 April 1869) was a son of Matthew, Sr 4. and Rachel (Bonnifield) Maddox and he was born in Harrison County, Virginia (WV). On 26 December 1811, William married Sarah Gaston (1790-1873) in Harrison County, Virginia (WV). Their children were, Mansfield Maddox 6, Margaret Maddox6, who married George Washington Ward, Dorcus Maddox 6, who married Henry Lyons, Oliver Maddox 6, Arnold Maddox 6, who married Mary Mildred Smith, Anna Maddox 6, born, 1832, married Hiram T. Sinclair, Ruhema Maddox 6 (1834-1910), married Jefferson B. West, Matthew Maddox 6 (4 October 1812-1863), married Mary Emerson, John Maddox 6 (30 July 1814-23 March 1896), married Eliza Hill, Thomas Maddox 6 (1820-1901), married Martha Ann Goodwin, William D. Maddox 6 (22 January 1822-21 June 1906), married Emily Stalnaker and James Gaston Maddox 6 (17 November 1823-3 January 1901), married Flora Ann Hill. All of the above children were born in Harrison County, Virginia (WV). Hiram T. and Anna (Maddox) Sinclair are buried in the Sinclair Cemetery, Harrison County, West Virginia. William 5 and Sarah (Gaston) Maddox are buried in the Sinclair Cemetery, Harrison County, West Virginia.

  • The son, Matthew Maddox 6, son of William 5 and Sarah Gaston Maddox was known as Rev. M. Maddox 6, who was a Baptist Minister who started churches in Harrison County, Virginia (WV) and married many people. Rev. Matthew Maddox 6 died in the Camp Chase Federal Prison on 5 October 1863, during the American Civil War. Rev. Matthew Maddox 6 was a citizen prisoner from Harrison County, West Virginia and he is buried next to his wife, Mary ( Emerson ) Maddox in the Sinclair Cemetery, Harrison County, West Virginia. The sons, John Maddox 6, Thomas Maddox 6, William D. Maddox 6 and James Gaston Maddox 6 left Harrison County, West Virginia at the close of the American Civil War and went to Jackson County, West Virginia, settled in the Ravenswood, Ripley and Grass Lick areas of the county. As of today, there are descendants of this Maddox line in Jackson, Harrison and Wood Counties.

  • The son, Thomas Maddox 6, son of William 5 and Sarah Gaston Maddox married Martha Ann Goodwin. Thomas Maddox 6 was born in 1820 in Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia) and died in Jackson County, West Virginia in 1901.. His wife died in Jackson County, West Virginia on 8 October 1916. Thomas 6 and his wife are buried in the Grass Lick Baptist Cemetery in Jackson County, West Virginia. Their children were, Columbia Ann Maddox 7 who married Amos Riffle, Louverina Jane Maddox 7 who married Charles A. Jividend, Sarah Canzida Maddox 7 who married T. W. Simmonds, Flourney M. Maddox 7 who married Lucy Hays first, then Sarah Bell Adams, William Rufus Maddox 7,(2 June 1857-12 March 1901), married Rossetta Casto, Mary Eliza Maddox 7 who married John Franklin Vogesong, Hiram Loring Maddox 7 (born-15 February 1912) who married first Mary Adkinson, then Louisa Morrison, George Gallation Maddox 7 who married Mary Casto, Maddox 7, dies in infancy and Maddox 7, dies in infancy.

  • William D. Maddox 6, son of William 5 and Sarah (Gaston) Maddox was born on 22 January 1822 in Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia). He married Emily Stalnaker. William D. Maddox 6 died in Jackson County, West Virginia on 21 June 1906 and along with his wife are buried in the Grass Lick Cemetery, Jackson County, West Virginia. William and Emily had the following children, Mary L. Maddox 7 (31 October 1844-9February 1922) who married John Thomas, Sarah V. Maddox 7 (31 October 1847-8 September 1905) who married Martin V. Goodwin, Susan A. Maddox 7 (30 May 1857-26 October 1922) who married James C. Bradley, Horace M. Maddox 7 (born: 26 March 1853), Charles G. Maddox 7 (15 February 1858-1935) who married Belle Hill, Albert Montgomery Maddox 7 (24 January 1862-1889), never married and Infant Maddox 7 who died in 1869 in infancy.

  • The son, John Maddox 6, son of William 5 and Sarah (Gaston) Maddox was born in Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia) on 30 July 1814, married Eliza Hill and John died 23 March 1896 in Jackson County, West Virginia. Both John and his wife are buried in the Grass Lick Baptist Cemetery, Jackson County, West Virginia. The children of John Maddox 6 and Eliza (Hill) Maddox are Mary Elizabeth Maddox 7 who married Samuel E. Stanlnaker, Achimodus A. Maddox 7 who married Alvaretta Jewell, Margaret L. Maddox 7 who married James Hall, Helen E. Maddox 7 and two infants who died in infancy.
