The son, John Maddox 6, son of William 5 and Sarah (Gaston) Maddox was born in Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia) on 30 July 1814, married Eliza Hill and John died 23 March 1896 in Jackson County, West Virginia. Both John and his wife are buried in the Grass Lick Baptist Cemetery, Jackson County, West Virginia. The children of John Maddox 6 and Eliza (Hill) Maddox are Mary Elizabeth Maddox 7 who married Samuel E. Stanlnaker, Achimodus A. Maddox 7 who married Alvaretta Jewell, Margaret L. Maddox 7 who married James Hall, Helen E. Maddox 7 and two infants who died in infancy.
