The log house stands on Wadesville Road near Sarepta Baptist Church. The history says it was probably built about 1837 by John and Rebecca Grogan Small. Its oak logs were hewn flat on four sides and joined with half dovetails; the house had two rooms downstairs, two upstairs, a stone chimney and fireplace, Lee Creek behind it, and Lott Cemetery over the hill.
David and Hannah Eaton bought the 100 acres and house in 1856 and lived there until their deaths. In 1876 their son Elihu Tipton Eaton and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Melrose, bought the same property; the later deed is identified as Wood County Deed Book 53, page 290.
