The Marietta land-office abstract identifies two purchases: document 4247, dated 20 August 1838, for 122.67 acres in section 27 of Malaga Township, Monroe County; and document 6077, dated 10 July 1844, for 40.25 acres in section 25 of Jolly Township, Washington County.
The abstract places the Washington County tract just west of New Matamoras and notes David, Hannah and most of their family in Jolly Township's 1850 census. It reports that they left for Steele District, Wood County, Virginia, in 1853 and purchased property there in 1856.
