Mary Ann Duvall (Ross) Maddox had been married before to Alexander Ross, born 1779, married 5 April 1806 in Harrison County, Virginia (WV) and died on 28 June 1824 in Harrison County, Virginia (WV). Mary Ann Duvall (Ross) Maddox is buried next to her first husband and Matthew Maddox, Jr. is buried next to his first wife.

As for Alexander Maddox 6, son born to Matthew, Jr 5. and Mary Ann Duvall (Ross) Maddox, we have been unable to find any records or information on this individual.

The mother of child number 8 and 9 was Mary Ann Duvall (Ross) Maddox, the second wife of Matthew Maddox, Jr. 5 Child number II Samuel Maddox 6 may have gone to Galva, Illinois with his brother Mathew R. Maddox 6, this is still open to investigation. There is no information on child III James Maddox 6 and child IV John Maddox 6 and only the birth date is known on child IX Alexander Maddox 6.

In the 1860 census of Harrison County, Virginia (WV) Matthew and his second wife appeared in the census, receiving their mail at Clarksburg. Mary Ann Duvall (Ross) Maddox died 29 April 1866 and in the 1870 census Matthew did not appear.
