Paul Hawkins wrote that a 1995 Parkersburg Sentinel article about work to clean a cemetery led him to visit the site and recognize the graves of Matthew Maddox and other ancestors. He recalled that his family had not known of the cemetery and credited a local family with helping maintain it over the following four years.
