The old country of the line: Samuel (Madoc) Maddox was born about 1635 at Scethrog in the Usk valley, son of John (Madoc) Maddox, Lord of Scethrog. The manuscript’s Welsh chapters carry the family’s traditions of the house of Madoc; the connected tree begins with Samuel’s crossing.
