Received twenty shillings under his mother's will. He and wife Lydia Turner are named ('Samuel Maddox and Lydia Turner his wife 1798') on the memorial stained-glass window in the Christ Church, Chaptico, St. Marys County, Maryland.

Samuel Maddox's will, dated 18 January 1684 and cited as Liber PC 1, folio 51, left the 300 acres where he lived to Notley; the separately registered will abstract is the evidence for that bequest, while this compilation identifies the tract as Green Springs. The farm account next says Notley's will, cited as Liber 14, folio 108, passed the home tract to Samuel, but it dates the will 24 February 1715 where the existing history reads 1716. It then reports a 19 November 1739 will transferring the farm to nephew Samuel and a 7 March 1801 will, Liber JJ 2, folio 277, devising it onward. The latter Samuel Jr. is not safely mapped to an existing person, so no new parent or person link is asserted.
