William D. Maddox 6, son of William 5 and Sarah (Gaston) Maddox was born on 22 January 1822 in Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia). He married Emily Stalnaker. William D. Maddox 6 died in Jackson County, West Virginia on 21 June 1906 and along with his wife are buried in the Grass Lick Cemetery, Jackson County, West Virginia. William and Emily had the following children, Mary L. Maddox 7 (31 October 1844-9February 1922) who married John Thomas, Sarah V. Maddox 7 (31 October 1847-8 September 1905) who married Martin V. Goodwin, Susan A. Maddox 7 (30 May 1857-26 October 1922) who married James C. Bradley, Horace M. Maddox 7 (born: 26 March 1853), Charles G. Maddox 7 (15 February 1858-1935) who married Belle Hill, Albert Montgomery Maddox 7 (24 January 1862-1889), never married and Infant Maddox 7 who died in 1869 in infancy.
