• When Notley died on the 26 day of March 1716 he did leave a will dated 24 February 1716. To his first born son, Samuel Maddox he left to him, all of the tract of land that he lived on, one Negro boy called Charles, one Negro girl called Betty and the seventh part of my personal estate to him and his heirs forever. To his second born son, Notley Maddox, Jr. he left one Negro boy called Nedd and one Negro girl called Beck and the seventh part of his personal estate to him and his heirs forever. To John Maddox, his third born son, he left one Negro boy called Rich and one Negro girl called Mary and the seventh part of my personal estate to him and his heirs forever. To Ann Maddox, his fourth born child, he left one Negro woman called Lydia and the seventh part of his personal estate to her and her heirs forever. To Sarah Maddox, his fifth born child, he left one Negro woman called Sarah and the seventh part of his personal estate to her and her heirs forever. To Jane Maddox, his sixth born child, he left, one Negro woman called Ann and the seventh part of his personal estate to her and her heirs forever. To Notley Maddox, his second born son, he left one hundred acres of land lying in Charles County, Maryland, this land was bought from Benjamin Fanning and, this land being his and his heirs forever. To Margaret (Goldsmith) Maddox, his wife, he appointed her as the Executrix of the will and he left her one Negro man called Anthony, one Negro woman called Mary, one servant woman called Martha Lilly and the seventh part of his personal estate.

• The son, Thomas Maddox 6, son of William 5 and Sarah Gaston Maddox married Martha Ann Goodwin. Thomas Maddox 6 was born in 1820 in Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia) and died in Jackson County, West Virginia in 1901.. His wife died in Jackson County, West Virginia on 8 October 1916. Thomas 6 and his wife are buried in the Grass Lick Baptist Cemetery in Jackson County, West Virginia. Their children were, Columbia Ann Maddox 7 who married Amos Riffle, Louverina Jane Maddox 7 who married Charles A. Jividend, Sarah Canzida Maddox 7 who married T. W. Simmonds, Flourney M. Maddox 7 who married Lucy Hays first, then Sarah Bell Adams, William Rufus Maddox 7,(2 June 1857-12 March 1901), married Rossetta Casto, Mary Eliza Maddox 7 who married John Franklin Vogesong, Hiram Loring Maddox 7 (born-15 February 1912) who married first Mary Adkinson, then Louisa Morrison, George Gallation Maddox 7 who married Mary Casto, Maddox 7, dies in infancy and Maddox 7, dies in infancy.

• In his Will, Notley Maddox I 2 gave his son, Samuel Maddox 3 The Green Springs Farm, one Negro boy called Charles and one Negro girl called Betty and a seventh part of his personal estate. Notley Maddox II 3 received one Negro boy called Nedd and one Negro girl called Beck and a seventh part of his personal estate. John Maddox 3 received one Negro boy called Rich and one Negro girl called Mary and a seventh part of his personal estate. Ann Maddox 3 received one Negro woman called Lydia and a seventh part of his personal estate. Sarah Maddox 3 received one Negro woman called Sarah and a seventh part of his personal estate. Jane Maddox 3 received one Negro girl called Ann and a seventh part of his personal Estate. Notley Maddox II 3 also received a tract of land in the amount of 100 acres in Charles County, Maryland. To his wife, Margaret (Goldsmith) Maddox who he appointed as executrix of the Will, one Negro man called Anthony and one Negro woman called Mary, a seventh part of his personal estate and one servant woman called Martha Lilly.
