  • Arnold Maddox 5, son of Matthew Maddox, Sr. 4 and Rachel (Bonnifield) Maddox was born 1 April 1790 in Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia) and on 7 April 1824 he married Dorcus Tracewell in Wood County, Virginia (now West Virginia). Her father was Edward Tracewell, Sr. and her mother was Dorcus Bonnifield, daughter of Gregory and Sarah (Henly) Bonnifield.. No information has been found to show where Arnold 5 and his wife died or where they are buried . Records were found where Arnold Maddox 5 did receive a land grant for service in the War of 1812, this granted to him in Wood County, Virginia (now West Virginia) on 12 November 1817. Arnold had served in Carringtons 3rd Rifle Company and the grant was addressed to him at Parkersburg, Virginia (now West Virginia.
