The narrative gives his death as c1810 in Harrison County, Virginia; the Chapter 5 listing gives 1809. The compiler notes a spelling dispute between 'Neale' and 'Neal' was resolved by court records in favor of Neale; a separate Neal family gave its name to Neal's Island in the Ohio River at Parkersburg.

• Jane Teresa Neale 6 (15 June 1799-12 October 1887) was the daughter of Dorcus 5 (Maddox) Neale who married Charles E. Neale (1772-1809). Dorcus (Maddox) Neale was the daughter of Matthew, Sr 4. and Rachel (Bonnifield) Maddox. After the death of Charles E. Neale, Dorcus could not take care of her daughter. She was adopted by Matthew Maddox, S r4. She was the adopted granddaughter of Matthew, Sr 4. and Rachel (Bonnifield) Maddox. On 4 September 1823 in Wood County, Virginia (WV) Jane Teresa Neale married Edward Tracewell (9 December 1799-14 March 1875). Edward was an officer of the court, and Sheriff of Wood County, Virginia (WV). Edward also owned banks in Wood County, Virginia (WV). In 1840, Jane and Edward built their house just south of Parkersburg, Wood County, Virginia (WV). This home was called the Tracewell Manor, we know it as the Bickel Estates, which still stands today and in very good shape. Jane and Edward raised thirteen children in the house. Jane and Edward were buried in the Tracewell Cemetery, which is located just over the hill in the back of their home and this cemetery is connected to the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Wood County, West Virginia. Their grave marker is large (for the time period) and it is located in the south- west corner of the cemetery. There was some dispute on the spelling of the name Neale, based on court records it was determined that the correct spelling was in fact Neale. There was another family in Wood County, Virginia (WV) who spelled their last name as Neal; Neal’s Island in the Ohio River at Parkersburg was named after this family

• Jane Teressa Neale 6 adpoted granddaughter of Matthew Maddox, Sr. 4 and Rachel (Bonnifield) Maddox married Edward Tracewell on 4 September 1823 in Wood County, Virginia (now West Virginia). She was the daughter of Dorcus Maddox 5, daughter of Matthew Maddox, Sr. 4 and Charles E. Neale. Jane Teressa Neale, 6 and Edward Tracewell had the following children, Parmelia Tracewell 7 (25 October 1824-6 August 1907), Alcinda Tracewell 7 (13 February 1826-7 February 1873) Married 1843 to Walker Mayhew, William Tracewell 7 (18 February 1827-April 1898) married 1850 to Louisa V. Brown, Mary Louisa Tracewell 7 (18 September 1828-29 January 1906) married 1852 to Jacob Woodford, Violetta Tracewell 7 (24 March 1830-15 February 1859) married 1854 to George Strong, Benjamin Tracewell 7 (29 December 1831-6 March 1908) married 1854 to Angeline J. Bloomer, Jefferson P. Tracewell (2 December 1834-21 July 1892) married 1858 to Mary Saffel and 1873 to Amanda Reynolds, Charles Edward Tracewell 7 James Tracewell 7 (17 September 1838-10 March 1910) married 1859 to Mary Warne, Josephine Tracewell 7 (7 May 1840-11 March 1864), Robert Clinton Tracewell 7 (9 December 1842-November 1887) married 1865 to Mary Jane Leary, Teresa Neal Tracewell 7 born 12 September 1845, married 1867 to Thomas Cothern and John Kenner Tracewell 7 (12 January 1847-11 November 1833) married 1874 to Sarah Stout.

• Dorcus Maddox 5 daughter of Matthew Maddox, Sr. 4 and Rachel (Bonnifield) Maddox was born 17 April 1787 in Harrison County, Virginia (now West Virginia) and she died c1820. On 11 July 1807 she married Charles E. Neale in Harrison County, Virginia. Charles E. Neale died in Harrison County, Virginia c1810. The children of Dorcus Maddox 5 and Charles E. Neale were Jane Teressa Neale 6 (15 June 1799-12 October 1887-taken from grave marker), married 4 September 1823 in Wood County, Virginia (now West Virginia) to Edward Tracewell (9 December 1799-14 March 1875), both buried in the Tracewell Cemetery, Wood County, West Virginia, Charles Neale 6 and James Neale 6 (17 April 1809-20 March 1890 who married Lydia Labham. The second husband of Dorcus 5 Maddox) Neale was William White Sr., their children were William White, Jr. 6 (16 August 1812-11 December 1892), married 6 September 1838 to Frances E. Mitchell, Rachel White 6 (1814-1890) married Abraham Fittro, Amy White 6 , Henry White 6 (1818-1835).
