Notes

Did not inherit anything from his father Notley Maddox, reason unknown. Moved his family to Culpeper County, Virginia in 1774, where he had a farm and orchards. Left a will (Book C, page 141, Culpeper County courthouse; proved 19 October 1785) leaving everything to his wife Mary for her life -- including two enslaved men named Harry and Will -- to be divided equally among all his children after her death; he also directed that his children have his lawful right of his Uncle John Maddox's Estate, equally divided. His and Mary's exact burial locations in Culpeper County are unknown.
