Notes

Per the Chapter 1 narrative, the only member of the direct lineage known to have taken part in the American Civil War, reported to have served with the CSA (Confederate States of America). Two accounts of his death exist, both from Typhoid Fever: one that he was buried in the Maddox Cemetery, Jackson County, West Virginia, the other that he died in Harrison County and was buried at Good Hope, Harrison County, West Virginia. No grave has been found in either county.
